Teacher Cognition in an EFL primary classroom: a pilot study on speaking skills

  • María Virginia Mercau

Resumen

The current international tendency of having children start learning foreign languages earlier than before, poses many questions about the teaching and learning methods of both learners and teachers. This article accounts for the results of a pilot Ph.D. study carried out to explore the knowledge and beliefs of a primary teacher of English as a foreign language regarding the development of her students’ speaking skills in English. The results highlight the fact that this teacher’s practices are holistic, learner-oriented, as well as language-teaching oriented.
