“¿Tú estás a favor o en contra del aborto?” Estrategias conversacionales y diferencias en la co-construcción del discurso

Abstract

In this paper we undertake a contrastive analysis of two conversations about of abortion, one between two women and the other between a woman and a man. Our goal is to look at the differences in conversational strategies and the range of linguistic and discursive resources used in the two conversations, which are quite remarkable in view of the similarity of contextual conditions and the fact that one of the speakers took part in both conversational encounters. We show how these differences depend to a large extent on the type of relationship that the participants establish with one another, as well as on the nature of the topic dealt with.
