Literary discourse. Stories of the viejo Antonio and Don Durito

Abstract

This exposition addresses the characteristic discourse of indianista literature, in which non-indigenous writers take possession of cognitive and sociocultural elements from the indigenous people in order to become the spokespersons of their knowledge. The best example of this kind of expression is the Subcomandante Marcos from Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN), who adopted literary discourse as a channel for the diffusion of its political fundamentals. This is done by means of the narrative discursive operation of two characters, el viejo Antonio and Don Durito. In this work subjects and objects of discourse will be analyzed, including their narrative discursive operation and sociocultural identity, as well as the discursive functions prevailing in such narratives; all of this with the fundament of theoretical-methodological elements from comparative literature and discourse analysis.
