Abstract

This article presents a study of the political speech of the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional starting from its anti-rhetorical essence. This particularity is derived from the fact that its spokesman, subcomandante Marcos, assumes a position of parrhesiastes that, according to Foucault, consists of the possibility of expressing what one truly thinks, so that the ultimate aim of discourse is not persuasion, but authenticity. This transformation is the one that makes it possible to reunite ethics and politics in a speech of a new type that, in its polyphonic quality, restores the possibility of a true political dialogue.
