Dialectología perceptual y geolingüística del español de México. Análisis de una encuesta de Internet

Abstract

This article aims to determine how many dialect regions of Mexican Spanish can be obtained from the analysis of the linguistic proximity or distance perceived in a sample of 500 speakers. One of the objectives is to contrast these perceptions with the results obtained by hand-drawn perceptual maps and the findings of previous dialectological studies. The methodology partly replicates the one implemented in Quesada Pacheco (2014), where informants were asked about the proximity or remoteness of the speech of several Spanish speaking countries in respect to their own speech. The survey in the present study was applied to informants that were part of the author’s own social networks. The results confirm the opposition between the center and north of the country (documented in Morúa and Serrano, 2004) and the perceptual salience of the Yucatán península as the most distant speech for the rest of the country
