Materialidad, Wittgenstein y aguacates: inspección sensorial en la compraventa de fruta

Abstract

The present investigation examines the interactional features of sensorial inspections of avocados in a Mexican fruit and vegetables shop. The study uses video recordings and multimodal conversation analysis to contribute to the view that regards sensoriality as an interactional achievement and as an intersubjective phenomenon of public and social nature. The study describes three points of the sequential inspection context and the gazing and touching configurations that are implemented. The analysis shows that sensorial inspections display knowledge and expertise; they are tools to achieve particular goals in the commercial encounter.
