Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the most prominent linguistic characteristics of scientific titles written today in Cuba. We analyzed 200 scientific articles, written in Spanish by Cubans, that were recently published in Anales de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba, a centenary and multidisciplinary journal. We obtained global data that corroborate findings described by other authors for Spanish from other regions, both in average length and in the general formal structure of the titles, without the need to discriminate between disciplines, genres, or fields. This will allow for the subsequent diachronic description of the evolution of scientific style in Cuba.
