As tábuas votivas: mais uma fonte para a história do nosso “latim vulgar”

Abstract

If one tries to recover the historical constitution of Brazilian Standard Portuguese, the accessible documentation in archives is very generous, since the history of reading and writing is a history of power, is a history of fews. But when one desires to rebuild the formation process of non-standard dialects of the same language, the chances are completely different, are only based on cues. This paper aims to point out and describe linguistic characteristics of some votive offering, a sort of ex-vote, and to show that they can be useful sources of research in those cases.
