High school students' intentionality and performance when writing a book review in Spanish and English

Abstract

This paper presents the characterization of intentionality and linguistic performance in a case study of three high school students who wrote Spanish-English bilingual summaries in the mediatheque of languages. The performance characterization includes autotranslation decisions, either trying not to change the original text in Spanish, or rewriting it to adjust the bilingual text. The characterization of writing involves the intention to follow the agreements, cohesion, coherence, and acceptability textual standards in their grammar, meaning and vocabulary to achieve bilingual versions.
