Las epístolas del supMarcos a la prensa: la construcción discursiva de una identidad

Abstract

The identity of subcomandante Marcos, as shown in his letters, has been the occasion for lengthy debates. The article describes the narrative and discursive mechanisms employed by Marcos to assume such an identity. The semiotic concepts employed for the analysis are veridiction (saying truth), utterance, temporality, polemic and contractual interaction, all of which contribute to define the self presentation strategy assumed by Marcos in his multiple roles, as a soldier, spokesman, apprentice, etcetera. The article is based on Jean–Claude Coquet’s proposals for a subject semiotics and those of Eric Landowski on interaction semiotics.
