PERCEPTIONS AND CRITERIA OF LINGUISTIC CORRECTNESS IN CUBAN MIGRANTS SETTLED IN MEXICO CITY

Abstract

Abstract: This study analyzes the perceptions and criteria of linguistic correction, as part of the cognitive component of linguistic attitudes of Cuban migrants settled in Mexico City. Through the application of semi-directed interviews, as results it was obtained that the informants perceive the linguistic features that differentiate them from the receiving community and their sociolinguistic significance. The correction criteria are focused on those traits that deviate from the prestigious norm considered by both groups in contact, and that must be adapted by the migrants to achieve satisfactory communication and be accepted in the receiving community.
