Grammatical structures of the Andean Spanish of Colombia

Abstract

This paper presents an approach of grammatical constructions corresponding to the Andean Spanish of southwestern Colombia. These constructions have been organized into five groups (complex clauses, verbal features, clitics, elisions, and modifiers). These groups include grammatical phenomena that need a specific interpretation, given that the distribution of the constituents of the forms, the meanings they denote, and the reconfigurations of functional and lexical categories are not found in standard or academic Spanish. The presentation of the data is described taking into account the conceptual postulates of the functionalist proposal. The contribution focuses on the grammatical description of this Spanish variety.
